4Home Energy Wins CES 2009 Best of Innovations for Eco-Design &
Sustainable Technology– Brings Energy Management, Monitoring and
Conservation to the Home for Consumers and Utilities

Simple self-installable kit lets consumers manage energy usage and reduce utility bills
with smart power adapters, thermostats, and an in-home energy control center.

Las Vegas, NV, January 8, 2009 – 4Home, the leader in home control services,
announced today a new energy management system, 4Home Energy, which gives
consumers a connected home solution for controlling home energy usage and saving
money.  The version of 4Home Energy that won Best of Innovations (#1 overall)
combines software from 4Home with best-of-breed energy devices and technology from
Echelon, SMC Networks, and Radio Thermostat Corporation of America.

“4Home is leading the green movement for the digital home,” said Brad Kayton, COO of
4Home. “Energy conservation is more important than ever, and individuals and utilities
both have a desire to reduce energy consumption.  4Home Energy won the CES Best of
Innovations award for Eco-design and Sustainable Technology because it enables
consumers to do just that. We designed this solution in conjunction with leaders in the
connected home industry to help consumers understand their current energy consumption
and to take proactive steps to lower their monthly utility bill.”

Overview of 4Home Energy
The 4Home Energy system provides a complete, real-time analysis of home energy
usage, displaying energy consumption down to a single appliance or light fixture and
options for saving money and conserving energy. Consumers can monitor and control
their energy usage– both at home and remotely– via a computer, utility provided in-
home display, touch-panel, Smartphone, or networked TV.

Furthermore, the 4Home Energy management system is interoperable across different
browsers, displays, and devices. It is optimized for deployment by service providers and
for use with Home Area Network (HAN) and Demand Response (DR) programs from
local energy service providers.  4Home’s Portal Server product allows comprehensive
remote management and diagnostics of all the HAN devices in the home, as well as
providing wide-area network load control and load shedding across many thousands of
homes.

Components of the 4Home Energy award-winning kit:

  • - EnergyPoint 3200 Home Energy Command Center (aka, the Energy Gateway)
  • - Programmable Communicating Thermostat (PCT)
  • - Energy Measuring and Controlling Appliance Adapters, both 110V and 220V
  • - Energy Measuring and Controlling Lighting Adapters

4Home will be rolling out 4Home Energy this year. The solution is currently in development
and testing stages and has been selected for trials in 2009 with smart meter providers and
utilities, which will provide back-end support for the system.  Pricing and licensee partners will
be announced at the DistribuTECH exhibition and conference on February 3, 2009.  For more
